Pillar Series Featuring June Halper June Halper, MSN, APN-C, FAAN, MSCN
June Halper is a Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner, who has specialized in multiple sclerosis since 1978. She was a Founder of the MS Center in Teaneck, New Jersey, and Executive Director there until 2008.
June Halper was President of the CMSC, from 1995 to '97, and she has been Executive Director since 1992. She's published extensively and lectures widely on multiple sclerosis. Her numerous publications are well known in the field of multiple sclerosis. She chaired the first MS Nurse Specialist Consensus Committee, developing a monograph on the nurses' role. She's been instrumental in the Foundation of the International Organization of MS Nurses. She's a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, continues to serve as Founding Director, Executive Director of IOMSN.

Pregnancy and MS Elsie Gulick, PhD, FAAN, RN
Dr. Gulick is a Professor at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Her experience in the area of multiple sclerosis includes a public health nurse caring for patients with MS and conducting research with persons with MS and their families. Her areas of research include instrument development, coping, social support, quality of life, and effects of infant feeding method on the health of mothers with MS and their infants.

Pillar Series featuring Dr. John F. Kurtzke John F. Kurtzke, MD, FACP, FAAN
Dr. Kurtzke has had a long and distinguished career in the field of neurology and neuroepidemiology, as Chief of the Neurology Service at the Veteran's Affairs (VA) Medical Centers in Coatesville, PA, from 1956 to 1963, and Washington, DC, from 1963 to 1995 where he still serves as a consultant. A Navy veteran of World War II, he attained the rank of Rear Admiral in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Naval Reserve. he became Professor of Neurology at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he had been a faculty member since 1963 and is currently Professor Emeritus. Since 1992, he has also served as Distinguished Professor of Neurology at the F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine of the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.

Pillar Series featuring Dr. Donald Silberberg Donald Silberberg, MD
Dr. Silverberg received his MD from the University of Michigan School of Medicine and has trained extensively, including the University of Michigan School of Medicine, but also trained in Neurology at the National Institutes of Health. He's been a Fulbright Scholar. He studied in Queen Square, and is a fellow of neuro-ophthalmology at the Barnes Hospital. Dr. Silverberg's research has focused on the medical causes of neonatal injury and on multiple sclerosis and related disorders of the nervous system. A parallel focus has been on behalf of clinical neurosciences, with attention to child health and development in the developing world.

At the CMSC, we often speak of pillars, of the foundation and the things that hold us up and keep us going. So, this is the first opportunity to listen to one of our pillars in the field of Multiple Sclerosis, Dr. Arthur Asbury. He is the Van Meter Professor of Neurology Emeritus at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He is well known to neurologists around the world as a living treasure in neurology.
